In On his self-made Mbira, he plays his melodic tunes. His lyrics are in changana, his native language, and the mbira is a traditional instrument of Mozambique and Zimbabwe. With his songs, however, Mbalango tackles contemporary social issues. In August 2019, Mbalango launched his first album called Mbira ya Inhagoia. His album is available on Spotify, AppelMusic and Deezer.
Mbalango is a solo artist but he also has collaborated in various artistic projects with musicians, theater groups, poets and plastic artists from many countries (Mozambique, South Africa, Portugal and France among others). Among his most important projects abroad would have to be named the Tambouriland Festival in Lisbon in 2017 and an artistic performance with the plastic artist Julien Creuzet at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris in April 2019, without naming the many small concerts he has given in Portugal and France. In Maputo, he participated as the main musician in the 2019 edition of the Poetas de Alma Festival. He is also active in the Mbira community in Maputo, where he is a member of the organization of the Mbira Festival, which takes place every year since 2017. Since 2015 he is part of the collective Waka Mbira, that builds instruments. Within that group Mbalango specialized in building Mbiras. Moreover, Mbalango is also active as actor and sound composer for theater pieces.
